TitleFDynamics of plant assimilatory metabolism in the post-genome era

Outline

Plants are able to assimilate inorganic carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus and divert these into useful metabolites through a variety of biosynthetic pathways. The goals of this project are to understand the molecular functions of assimilation and biosynthesis of plant metabolites and to apply this knowledge in the preparation of genetically engineered plants. For example, to confer rice with an enhanced ability of assimilation and biosynthesis.
